Jason Lumb - Cognitive Behavioural Therapist
I am a fully qualified therapist and hold a Post Graduate Diploma in advanced CBT which was gained at the University of Cumbria. I qualified in 2013. I have experience in working with clients who present with...
addictions, anxiety, panic disorder, depression, OCD, phobias, low self esteem, addiction issues and anger management.
I have been working in the field of addictions for 20 years both with adults and young people. This has given me an excellent background in working in a collaborative, non judgemental and effective way with clients who are struggling with addiction in its various forms. I have a good understanding of how the NHS substance misuse service (SMS) works in Edinburgh should you require medical help with addiction issues. I have also had the opportunity to work with many international clients as an addictions therapist at Castle Craig Hospital in the Scottish Borders.
As well as individual therapy I have also delivered NHS group work programmes on Stress management, and a variety of group work including SMART recovery programme. I am passionate about working in my chosen field and understand the debilitating effect that poor mental health can have on both individuals and families if left untreated.
I became a therapist because I feel that it really empowers people to make positive changes in their lives, and CBT has a solid evidence base to support it.
